What provider records indicate
A provider record is a routing announcement that a peer may be able to serve content for a CID or related block data.
HiDHT summarizes provider count and shows a small provider sample to avoid storing or displaying unnecessary routing detail.
Why providers can still fail
A provider can be behind NAT, overloaded, temporarily offline, or too slow for a public gateway timeout.
Provider records are useful discovery signals, but they are not retrieval guarantees.
